Training for school-based and out-of-school multiplicators.
In order to develop an understanding of how National Socialism functioned and operated, it is essential not only to examine the victims and the political system, but also to address the issue of perpetration. Whilst not losing sight of the perspective of the victims and their descendants, it is important to examine the perpetrators and the role of mainstream German society under National Socialism, particularly in order to understand the lingering effects of National Socialism in post-war German society and the continuities of exclusion that persist to this day.
In this training course, we aim to explore the following questions, amongst others:
- Who do we mean when we speak of Nazi perpetrators?
- What motives and scope for action shaped the perpetrators’ behaviour?
- Why is it important to address the motives and scope for action of the perpetrators in educational work?
- What challenges does educational work on perpetration and the perpetrators present, and how can we successfully address them?
The aim of the training is to stimulate discussion on the topic of Nazi perpetration whilst also addressing questions of educational outreach. During the training, we will use educational materials from the Bergen-Belsen Memorial, enabling you, as educators, to gain an insight into our pedagogical practice and educational programmes. These can also serve as examples of how to address the topic in educational contexts more generally.
We look forward to seeing you!
The event is free of charge.
