Translated into English using DeepL
To translate the website into English, we opted for a combination of AI translation using DeepL and human translation. The advantage of AI is that it allows us to translate all website content quickly and cost-effectively, thereby making our content more accessible. We have therefore chosen AI translation for the majority of the pages.
As AI language models lack human qualities such as tact and sensitivity, we supplement the translations on some pages with work by professional translators. This applies in particular to pages dealing with historical topics, which therefore require language that is both sensitive and academically accurate.
The following pages have been translated manually:
- The History of Bergen-Belsen
- „Truppenlager Belsen“ (Belsen Military Base)
- Bergen-Belsen Prisoner-of-War Camp
- Bergen-Belsen Concentration Camp
- Displaced Persons Camp
- Prosecution
- The dead of Bergen-Belsen Concentration Camp
- Memorials in Bergen-Belsen
- History of the Bergen-Belsen Memorial
- contemporary witnesses
Responsible for the translations mentioned: Jessica Spengler – lost in translation
All other translations were carried out using AI.
