"Commemorate, preserve, mediate, reflect. The Lower Saxony Memorials Foundation is taking part in the annual nationwide Future Day ("Girls' Day, Boys' Day") at the Bergen-Belsen Memorial and is offering six interested young people aged 14 and over the opportunity to familiarise themselves with various professional fields at the memorial. The day includes an introduction to the history of the site, a visit to the grounds and the permanent exhibition. Colleagues, for example from the Education and Encounters and Research and Documentation departments, will provide insights into their activities such as the Collection and Archive, interviews with contemporary witnesses and Education work with groups.
Time: 9.30 am to 2 pm
If you are interested, please send us a short application. Tell us how old you are, which class and school you go to and why you would like to spend the day with us. Please send this as an email to bildung.bergen-belsen@stiftung-ng.de.
We will be accepting applications for 2026 from 1 January 2026.

Would you like to familiarise yourself with the diverse tasks of an internationally active foundation dealing with National Socialism and its consequences?
Depending on capacity, we offer internships in various areas of the Lower Saxony Memorials Foundation. At the Bergen-Belsen Memorial, internships can be completed in the Education and Encounters Department, in the Research and Documentation Department or in Public Relations. Internships at the Wolfenbüttel Correctional Facility (JVA) are possible in the Education and Outreach, Events, Public Relations and Collection departments. In Celle, we offer internships in the "Lower Saxony Memorials Development department" (with the documentation centre on the history of resistance and persecution 1933-1945 in Lower Saxony) and in the "Competence center against antiziganism" project.
The requirements placed on interns in the individual areas and the tasks that they have to familiarise themselves with are very different. It is therefore a good idea if you already have an idea of which location and which area you would be interested in when applying for an internship.
We only offer internships for trainees and students if an internship is mandatory in the training or study regulations or if an internship is to be completed alongside training or studies. The duration of the internship can be agreed. For students, we recommend a minimum duration of four weeks. Shorter internships are possible for school pupils.
Due to the high demand, applications for internships should be submitted to us at least six months before the desired internship period.
