Aims of the foundation's work
Through its work, the foundation aims to appropriately commemorate the victims of Nazi persecution and promote a lasting engagement with their life stories.
The Lower Saxony Memorials Foundation also researches and communicates the history of National Socialism and its causes and consequences for the present. This also includes dealing with perpetrators of National Socialism and researching perpetration as an individual and social phenomenon. With this historical and political education, the foundation aims to make a contribution to critical reflection on the present.
The basis of this work is the preservation, visualisation and accessibility of sites of National Socialist persecution, as well as the collection of historical sources and testimonies from different perspectives.
